You're not gonna catch me singing the praises of a lot of the young turks who are still wet behind the ears, but this is an exception. JW-Jones is a 20 year old guitarist who's been getting high praise from some of our top blues string-stretchers, among them Rick Holmstrom, Otis Grand, and Anson Funderburgh. This band has the west coast sound down! Jones hails from Ottawa, Canada and is the winner of the 1999 Blues Guitar Riff-Off.

The band also consists of the winner of the 1999 Blues Harp Blow-off, Southside Steve Marriner, and he's only 15!! I don't even want to know the age of the rest of the band. Just let it be known that the boys know their way around the blues. Nine songs are originals with a 10th track of studio outtakes thrown in.

If you're a fan of Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers or Kid Ramos, this disc is for you. I mentioned his name to Holmstrom at the Tampa Bay Blues Fest and he couldn't spit out enough adjectives to describe him.

Damn kids these days! What's the world coming to?
